Palm Beach Gardens, FL, is home to Gardens Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery Center. We have four experienced, skilled skin doctors who see patients daily for rosacea, other skin conditions, or cosmetic consultations. Our doctors are here today to discuss this rash.
What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a rash usually found on the face. You may be a bit embarrassed when it strikes, as this makes you look like you are blushing or embarrassed about something, making others look at you strangely, wondering what is happening.
It takes the expertise of Gardens Dermatology & Surgical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, to diagnose rosacea correctly because its symptoms can mimic other skin issues. Once we diagnose your skin condition, we can decide on a treatment plan to manage it.
This rash is chronic, causing redness on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. Sometimes, but not as frequently, it affects your eyes. Since this rash has four types, we must decide which type you have, such as,
Facial - Left untreated, it causes the skin to develop rough, dry patches
- Appears on the face
- Skin turns red
- Stinging, swelling, burning
Acne
- Bumps that may be filled with pus
Ocular
- Affects the eyes
- Eyes look bloodshot due to broken blood vessels
- Eyes may feel gritty
- Light sensitivity
Thickened Skin
- Bumps
- Develops after a different form of rosacea
- Found on the forehead, cheeks, ears, chin, nose
A Challenging Diagnosis
Even though rosacea is challenging to diagnose, you are in excellent hands with our four doctors. The exact cause of this rash is unknown. We will review our medical history, health, and medication and see if you have potential contributing factors in your family. UV radiation, spicy food, smoking, alcohol, and exposure to high temperatures could also be contributing factors.
